CSU Faculty Officers

The Connecticut State University American Association of University Professors (CSU-AAUP) is the faculty union representing the four state universities, Central, Eastern, Southern, and Western. We advocate for 3,000 faculty members, both full-time and part-time, including teaching faculty, librarians, counselors, coaches, and athletic trainers.
We are a democratic union run by volunteer faculty members, steered by elected faculty officers on each campus, and coordinated by a CSU system-wide faculty leadership including Officers and Council. Faculty members are assisted by a paid staff, both full-time and part-time.
We negotiate wages and working conditions for all members in our Collective Bargaining Agreement (Contract). We also work to protect academic freedom and shared governance and advocate for members who may face discipline.
We are a union that is dedicated to the common good of our entire community and state. In this capacity, we fight for excellent education, adequate funding for our institutions, and help for our students to succeed.
At the time of hire, a faculty member automatically become a member of the CSU-AAUP bargaining unit. All bargaining unit members are entitled to vote on contract ratification. However, to become an active member of the organization, faculty must fill out a membership form. Active members have the right to vote in chapter elections, serve on committees, and hold office. Active members also receive discounts on various services.
We are assisted in all our efforts by our affiliation with national AAUP, the Connecticut American Federation of Teachers (AFT) and, through them, national AFT.
CSU-AAUP is your union. We hope all members will join us in the important work we do.
