Home care workers who are part of SEIU 1199NE are striking to win a fair wage from the Connecticut budget. CSU-AAUP leadership and members have been showing up the past few weeks to support the strikers and urge Governor Lamont to pass a moral budget.
On June 1, several members attended a rally and took part in an act of civil disobedience. They shut down the busy Capitol Avenue in Hartford for some time before being arrested and released. Those who did not want to risk arrest went pamphleting about the issue.
